The Long Ridge School
Spring Boutique

The Spring Boutique was a successful and fun event. Thank you to everyone who came out to shop, be pampered, and told friends to stop by. Special thanks to Annette Aspillaga, Liz Jacobson, and Katrina Kaupp for co-chairing the event, Carl Ekstrom for helping set-up, and Francesca D’Onofrio for arranging raffle items.

We thank Christen DeSantis for her informative presentation about the prevalence of artificial food dyes and their effects on children at the Parents Group meeting this past Wednesday. Click here for a summary of Christen’s presentation.

Moving Up Day this Monday

Invitations were sent to parents of first-graders moving up to second grade and to parents of third-graders moving up to fourth to meet with next year’s teachers on Monday, May 21, at 2:30 p.m.

It's Time to Return Your Library Books

As the school year winds down, it’s time to check for LRS library books which may be lurking under beds, in the back seats of cars, or shoved into family bookcases. Please return all library books your child is not reading at this time. Thank you. – Joanna Merlen

Lettuce Challenge Contest

The children in K-1 are participating in the Lettuce Challenge Contest sponsored by the Stamford Garden Club. Nineteen schools throughout Stamford are in the competition. The three best LRS lettuce plants, which were planted by Jacob Silver, Rachel Akinla, and Abhi Polaki are on display at the Stamford Government Center Lobby from Thursday, May 17, through Sunday, May 20. All the rest of the K-1 plants are in the LRS garden until they grow big enough to provide delicious salad-ready lettuce.

Oops....

The Subourbons Band will be playing at Pound Ridge Pride Day on Sunday, May 20, from 3-4 p.m., not from 2-5 as stated in last week’s Owl Notes. The Subourbons feature Long Ridge parents Donna Volpitta and Terence Donohue.

Thank You for Lunch!

Thank you to Ben O’Brien’s mom, Jennifer Sclar, for providing a delicious lunch for the faculty and staff last Friday. We all enjoyed it very much, especially the desserts!
