Carissa LewisWelcome to The Long Ridge School!

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about our age-two through grade 5 school community.

Visit us and you will quickly see that students at The Long Ridge School simply love school. This clearly reflects the qualities of the Long Ridge community as a warm, caring place with great teachers and an excellent academic program. Our strong academic achievement also shows that Long Ridge’s philosophy and curriculum—where teachers guide exploration individually and in small groups, fostering each student’s curiosity and growth—is well suited to twenty-first century students.

Founded in 1938 by Harriet Rowland, a parent who wanted a school for young students to learn and grow in distinct and individual ways, Long Ridge continues today to provide a rich and warm education with strong programs in mathematics, literacy, science and the arts. Children here are valued, active, and enthusiastic participants in their own learning.

The Long Ridge School experience can be defined by five core characteristics:
• One-on-one instruction.
• Theme-based interdisciplinary learning.
• Multi-age classrooms.
• Small class sizes.
• A warm, welcoming community.

I invite you to plan a visit to our 14-acre woodland campus by contacting our Admissions Office at We look forward to meeting you and your family.
