Elementary Grades (K-5)
Organized with individual instruction in mind, our elementary school students work in their classroom on subjects such as mathematics, language arts, coding, and social studies. Mathematical study, writing, reading, and listening to teachers read aloud are all part of students’ daily life at LRS. Students leave the class in small groups for science, art, music, Spanish language, and physical education.
Students’ work is individualized within theme-based explorations and allows students to progress at their own pace, while enjoying the rich conversations and collaboration that theme-based instruction provides. Our classrooms are equipped with a variety of resources to allow our elementary school-age students to challenge and express themselves, as well as develop the skills needed to read widely and deeply.
By learning the fundamentals of reading, writing and math within theme-driven explorations combined with lessons that promote hands-on discovery, our K-5 program is designed to help children become learners who explore, question, observe, and think.
